How do you make water at Scott Base?

Seawater is pumped from under the sea-ice up into the powerhouse, where it is filtered and the salt is removed. When there are lots of people on base, the desalination plant (also called a reverse osmosis plant) can’t keep up with demand, and water has to be conserved.
